 A The Lovely Bones nagyon érdekes történettel rendelkezik és a képen azt láthatjuk, hogy Jackson milyennek képzeli a Mennyországot. A sztori középpontjában a mindössze 14 éves Susie áll, akit megerőszakol, majd brutálisan meggyilkol saját szomszédja. A lány ezután a Mennyországból nézi végig, hogyan próbál meg családja túllépni a történteken és hogyan próbálja a tettes eltitkolni szörnyű cselekedetét.Az alapanyagot egyébként Alice Sebold világsikerű könyve szolgáltatta, melyből Fran Walsh írta a forgatókönyvet. A főszerepet Saoirse Ronan alakítja, aki nemrégiben buktázott egyet a Szikraváros főszerepében. Szüleit Mark Wahlberg és Rachel Weisz, a szomszédot Stanley Tucci, a barátságos nagymamát Susan Sarandon alakítja.
